![]() Gone is the immense enjoyment of seeing characters come of age, following them pick up certain traits and then weep a bit on the inside when they are stabbed by a random peasant with a spear. Generals can be recruited anywhere, anytime so when I lose one I just go "meh, another 3000 down the drain" instead of mourning a minute for his passing. Their traits barely matter and even ministers feel very random, even if their traits do matter. In ETW, however, the characters feel very drab. After a while sitting in a city, my characters got fat, lazy and decadent - and of course don't forget Roman politics with race-going parties and a lot more traits of similar ilk! ![]() I was also able to make a few decisions like slaughtering useless peasants after conquering a city so that my bloodthirsty maniac could live up to his name and instill fear in his opponents. I could also train them and an experienced general bestowed a much larger bonus to my soldiers' morale than a young bloke who just came of age. I could not recruit generals, so I took care of them and after a while I got attached to my little tokens with all of their little vanities and feastiness. One of the most enjoyable concepts in RTW and M2TW for me was the ability to role-play my characters. I like to start my opening posts with a little introductory note, so here goes.
